I'm a travel EMT, full-time traveler, thru-hiker, and founder of NomadEMS. I created NomadEMS because I believe EMS careers can be built around the life you want — not just the schedule you've been given.

After becoming an EMT in 2022, I originally planned to pursue a career as a Physician Assistant. But after studying abroad in Madrid, I discovered my love for travel, adventure, and experiencing the world beyond the small Pennsylvania town where I grew up. I knew the traditional path wasn't for me — but I didn't know how I could combine EMS with the lifestyle I wanted.
Then I discovered Travel EMS.
At first, I honestly thought it sounded too good to be true. I found a 13-week EMT contract in Texas that provided housing and a meal stipend, and I remember showing my parents the paperwork because we were all trying to figure out if this opportunity was actually real. It was.
That first Travel EMS contract changed everything. It wasn't always easy — the hours were long and the work was challenging — but it gave me something I didn't know was possible: the ability to build a career while still making time for the things I love. Through Travel EMS, I was able to explore new places, thru-hike the Pacific Crest Trail, and travel to more than 10 countries over 9 months. I was living a lifestyle that I had no idea existed when I first became an EMT.
And that's why I created NomadEMS.
When I started in Travel EMS, I had to figure everything out myself:
I wanted to create the resource I wish I had when I started.
NomadEMS is here to help EMTs and paramedics discover opportunities, learn how to build flexible EMS careers, and connect with other providers who are pursuing a different path. My goal is to build more than just a resource hub — I want NomadEMS to be a community where EMS providers can ask questions, share experiences, and realize they have more options than they may have thought.
